Returning to a career in the Law

Returning to work as a lawyer after a career break can be a daunting prospect. However there is information and advice available.

If you are considering returning to work as a solicitor, barrister, legal executive or other legal professional you may want to look at the following websites.

Lawyers with Kids is a website designed to help parents who work in the legal profession. It has been set up by two solicitors, one who specialised in commercial law and the other from a criminal defence background.

The website is designed to provide a means of communication for mothers and fathers alike, working in the public and private sector. It is for inhouse lawyers, barristers in chambers, paralegals, members of the judiciary as well as solicitors. Users of the site can pose questions to others on the Forum, read the blog, comment on articles and engage with others who have the same problem - how to balance career and parenthood in one of the most demanding professions.

Lawyers with Kids also advertises jobs suitable for lawyers who want flexible working hours, such as part time or working from home.
